The decision to permanently postpone Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s contentious fight has been made.
At the Dallas Cowboys stadium in Texas on July 20, boxing icon Tyson was set to square off against influencer-turned-boxer Paul. Tyson was deemed medically ineligible to participate after experiencing an ulcer flare-up during a flight last week, hence the professionally sanctioned combat has now been postponed till further notice.
As a result, “Iron Mike” has demanded that his rearranged fight with Paul happen sometime between October and December. However, UFC icon Demetrious Johnson has given his reasons for wanting the fight to be permanently postponed. Mike Tyson has 58 years of age. Johnson said on The MMA Hour, “I’m not sure what his medical history is.”
The most concerning thing, in my opinion, is that a 58-year-old man is moving and straining his body to the maximum; I’m not sure if he’s sparring or whatever. Although there are a lot of f***ing boxers that Jake Paul can fight and use to pad his record, I still adore Jake Paul and would like to see him compete.
“I know they want to do it because Mike Tyson is a well-known figure, but I don’t think they should go back to it. There are well-known men who are both older and younger than Mike Tyson, but he can still defeat them.” Since quitting from professional boxing nearly two decades ago against journeyman Kevin McBride, Tyson has not participated in any fights.
I mean, him going up against Mike Tyson? I don’t want to see Mike get wounded, and the guy is fifty-eight. That has nothing to do with Jake or Mike; it’s just my personal perspective. He had a legitimate cause for attacking a 58-year-old. Eddie Hearn could definitely find Jake Paul a fight partner. “This is the most ridiculous thing that’s taking place at the moment,” Johnson continued.
Amir Khan and boxing great Roy Jones Jr. have both expressed interest in challenging Tyson in a future match. Tyson must clear brain and cardiac scans in order to face Paul. Despite having an ulcer flare-up, Tyson has maintained that he is in good health and that he would resume training in a few weeks.
