Joshua Zirkzee’s services will not be available to Arsenal until after Euro 2024 after a change in his summer plans
Arsenal may have to postpone their eagerness to bolster Mikel Arteta’s striking corps. The Gunners, who finished short again last season, are eager to add a new striker to their roster this summer.
Just 15 goals were scored by Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah combined during their challenging seasons in the previous campaign. In the remaining 14 games, Kai Havertz, who was supposed to play at number nine, actually found his game, tallying five assists and nine goals.
The conversation about who striker will sign over the summer has picked up speed ever since the last ball was kicked against Everton on the last day of the season. Victor Osimhen and Victor Gyokeres, among many other elite forwards, have been linked to a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Before deciding to sign a contract extension in Germany earlier this month, Benjamin Sesko, a standout for RB Leipzig, did appear to be the clear favourite. Though they still have plenty of time to find their perfect candidate, Edu Gaspar and Arteta probably would rather close a deal quickly.
Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna is still a top target for Arsenal due to his outstanding Serie A performances. He was chosen as the league’s best young player after scoring 12 goals in 37 games. Zirzkee has a lot of interest because his contract has a £34 million release clause.
Juventus, Manchester United, and AC Milan are all keeping an eye on his condition. But there’s no longer any chance of closing a deal in the upcoming weeks.
This year, Zirkzee had a busy summer off the pitch planned, but things haven’t gone quite as planned. Following Brian Brobbey’s injury-related withdrawal from the senior Netherlands squad for Euro 2024, the 23-year-old was recently called up.
Ronald Koeman hasn’t yet given the striker a cap, but the next competition offers him a fantastic chance to demonstrate his skills on the biggest platform. But because of his participation in the summer extravaganza, Arsenal might have to wait to sign Zirkzee.
In light of the Dutch situation, Zirkzee might not be accessible until July. Although they are not among the favourites to win the title, the Oranje have a good chance of making it out of their group and into the knockout stages.
