As the competition goes on at Euro 2024, Phil Foden, a player for Manchester City, thinks Cole Palmer will have a significant effect for England.
Palmer was included in Gareth Southgate’s team for the tournament in Germany as a result of his outstanding season, which saw him win the Premier League Young Player of the Year award.
While England defeated Serbia on Sunday night, Palmer was not used as a substitute and will undoubtedly be expecting to play against Denmark on Thursday.
Palmer’s influence at the Euros is backed by Foden
Prior to last November, Palmer hadn’t been included in the England team, but due to his rapid rise, many have been debating whether or not he ought to start.
Foden, who is well acquainted with Palmer from their time together at City, believes the 22-year-old will have a significant influence in Germany, even though Palmer will have to wait a little longer to see action for the Three Lions at a major event.
He revealed through England’s X account, “Cole and I have been hanging out on camp quite a bit.
We’ve been playing a little paddle and visiting the sauna and steam room. He’s a dear friend that I know quite well from my club.
“I’ve been working out at City for a long time with them. I am aware of his skill and excellence. There is only improvement for him.
He seems like he may have a significant impact on the competition when given the chance, so I’m excited about it.
Some were taken aback by Southgate’s decision to start Bowen over Palmer against Serbia, but the former City player can only work hard in the training room, wait for his chance, and seize it.
Palmer can impact a game, which will be crucial in the elimination phases, so having someone of his caliber on the bench is a significant plus.
