The latest Chelsea transfer state of play as the Blues cool interest in Jhon Duran, move for Samu Omorodion and are handed a big boost in the race to sign Michael Olise
Jhon Duran, a striker for Aston Villa, is no longer of interest to Chelsea, according to football.london.
The striker’s wage demands are reportedly too exorbitant, despite the Blues’ recent discussions with Villa and the 20-year-old. Additionally, sources have stated that Duran’s mentality is under question, which has led Chelsea to explore elsewhere.
To discuss a potential trade for Samu Omorodion, the club is now in talks with Atletico Madrid. When Chelsea suggested paying £34 million, including add-ons, for the 20-year-old striker, Atleti swiftly dissuaded the west Londoners from entertaining the offer.
The Spanish player made an impression while on loan at Alaves last season, and the Madrid-based team is keen to extend his deal. Omorodion’s contract at the Civitas Metropolitano is still valid for four years, but Atletico is eager to ward off any prospective suitors by extending new terms to him.
Before the 2024–2025 season begins, Chelsea is determined to add another striker to the team. Nicolas Jackson had too much load on his shoulders the previous season, so the Blues want to give him some extra help and competition.
As for Michael Olise and his advisors, football.london believes that Chelsea has been given permission to speak with them in the coming days. The 22-year-old’s contract at Selhurst Park last summer had a £60 million release clause, but any transfer would be difficult because he still owes some money to his previous team, Reading.
In their quest to sign a right winger this summer, Chelsea has identified Olise as their top target. As Enzo Maresca gets ready for his first season with the Blues following his appointment as head coach on a five-year contract earlier this month, the team wants to offer him more alternatives in his front line.
