Bayern Munich sporting director Max Erbel recently reached an agreement with a Real Madrid transfer target.
Regrettably, Bayern Munich now has an advantage in the competition for a top Real Madrid transfer target. Real Madrid supporters have been losing hope in their ability to sign a player from the Bavarian team over the past several days.
Although Alphonso Davies is in the last year of his contract, Bayern Munich wants to hang onto him for the 2024–2025 campaign, as was disclosed earlier this week. This implies that Real Madrid would not be able to go further with their transfer talks until after the end of the current season.
If the reports from today are any indication, Bayern Munich is getting closer to destroying Real Madrid’s last chance.
Bayern Munich reach agreement with Real Madrid transfer target
The Athletic (via MiaSanMia) has updated their story to say that Max Erbel, the athletic director of Bayern Munich, has revised the terms he previously gave to Alphonso Davies, who accepted them, to a salary of between €14 million and €16 million annually. The contract offer was rejected by Bayern officials, therefore the agreement is still pending. Bayern believes they still have room to let Davies go next year for nothing.
In any case, supporters of Real Madrid who anticipated that Alphonso Davies would sign this summer are not happy. Alphonso Davies and Max Erbel had an agreement, but it was not finalized after Bayern officials rejected the conditions.
This proves that Alphonso Davies is not a “Real Madrid or nothing” type of guy. This has demonstrated that, under the appropriate circumstances, Bayern Munich CAN purchase him. So, is it time for Real Madrid to go elsewhere?
The response, however, will vary according to Carlo Ancelotti’s level of need for a new left-back. There is no immediate need to send in reinforcements, as seen by the impressive performances of Ferland Mendy and his opponent Fran Garcia throughout 2023–25. But from Ancelotti’s point of view, this was probably the least perfect position in his otherwise flawless team. After all, there are enormous expectations.
