After Mike Tyson had to withdraw due to health issues, Jake Paul has admitted that his highly anticipated fight with the legendary boxer may not happen.
The fight between Tyson and the social media sensation, who traded jabs for vlogs, was scheduled to take place on July 20, but Tyson’s stomach ulcer has thrown a wrench in the plans. The titanic match has been rescheduled for November 15, and in the meanwhile, Paul will square off against former UFC heavyweight champion and knuckle-busting competitor Mike Perry.
Since his withdrawal, Tyson, the heavyweight champion without peer, has been hiding his activities, but Paul revealed the truth to The New York Post, saying: “If Tyson wants it, I’m down.” He is holding the keys.”
He said, “It would be such an honor to step in there with him,” while discussing the possible matchup. It was Mike Tyson who insisted on making it a professional fight. He’s claiming to be fine [despite the issue], ready, and all of these things. Not Mike Tyson’s father are we? He is not under our authority. It would be my honor to face Mike Tyson if he so chooses, and I’m willing.”
He only needed a few weeks to get back to training, so he’s ready to go. All we can do is hope and pray that everything goes well and that he continues to be healthy. That’s the most important thing. When it comes down to it, he’s just Mike Tyson. He is extremely skilled and possesses a deadly knockout power. In any case, I believe there will be a fight,” the Mirror writes.
Next month, Jake Paul will take against Perry in the squared circle in an attempt to win his tenth career bout. After leaving the octagon, the former UFC fighter has established a vicious reputation in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. He has even hinted at a possible fight with Conor McGregor after a run-in with the Notorious one the previous year.
Jake has taken a surprising turn by declaring that he will give the Perry fight his all, even if it means that his brawl with Mike Tyson will never happen. “I think I am insane for this; I surely am because I don’t think anyone would take the risk in my situation, but that’s simply what makes me different. Jake declared, “I want to stay active in the gym and I’m not slowing down for anyone.”
