After deciding on Marcus Rashford’s future at Old Trafford, Manchester United hopes to let go of the forward during the summer transfer window.
According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain is still interested in signing the forward despite his sharp decline in play during the previous campaign, during which he also had disagreements with the management about non-football matters.
After scoring 30 goals in all competitions the previous season in 2022–2023, the 26-year-old struggled in the Premier League last season, scoring just seven goals in 33 games.
It was during the 2022–2023 campaign that Manchester United made him an offer of a five-year contract at £300,000 per week. Though it now seems like it was a hasty choice, if PSG are serious about pursuing Rashford, they will be hoping to see some return on their investment.
The implication is that PSG is unwilling to pay Rashford more than he is being paid at Manchester United, and while Arsenal has also contacted Rashford about a potential transfer, it is unlikely that their interest will persuade the French team to make a larger offer.
While Rashford still enjoys support from teammates and is well-regarded around the organization, his boss seems to have lost interest in him due to a noticeable decline in performance and his off-field antics.
Ten Hag is rumored to have the support of INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe in his harsh punishment of players that jeopardize the unity of the team.
Manchester United season review: Marcus Rashford won’t make it
Rashford’s performance on the field and off-field behavior have drawn criticism from the club’s new football department, which is why they included him in the most recent end-of-season assessment.
Ten Hag and captain Bruno Fernandes were deemed to be vital to United in the future, but Rashford was deemed to be less important.
It is rumored that United has told intermediaries between the player and the club that they will not impede his exit provided there is sufficient interest.
Rashford’s greatest chance of remaining in Europe and earning a salary that is comparable to what he would at Manchester United is probably with PSG.
Although Saudi Pro League teams have expressed interest in signing Rashford, the striker doesn’t think that would be beneficial for his England future.
However, as the French powerhouses get ready for life without Kylian Mbappe, he is reportedly willing to move to Paris.
