CM Punk might soon receive clearance to compete.
CM Punk has been out of action and the amount of roughness has been carefully limited since he suffered a torn tricep in his return battle at the Royal Rumble. The Chicago native has made numerous cameos on WWE programming with the primary goal of making Drew McIntyre’s life as miserable as possible, despite the fact that they are unable to have a bout. Since Punk denied McIntyre the chance to win the World Championship three times in 2024, McIntyre has been driven by a desire for vengeance and has made it his goal to exact revenge on Punk at any means.
Punk has made several appearances at press conferences, where he has given updates on his recuperation process and expressed optimism that his release from treatment won’t be too far off. A recent update suggests that Punk could have received the good news, nevertheless.
A rematch between Sami Zayn and Bron Breakker is scheduled, according to Dave Meltzer, who was speaking about SummerSlam on Wrestling Observer Radio. Punk was recently in Orlando and is anticipated to be cleared to compete.
“It’s still Sami Zayn and Bron Breaker for the show and the McIntyre thing is an angle. However, Punk is working on getting cleared, that might have even taken place today because he was in Orlando. He was not cleared as of Monday, but he was expected to be cleared. They were going with the idea he would be cleared. So Punk and McIntyre is likely the match. I can’t say 100% because he isn’t cleared, but it’s likely the direction.”
