According to sources, Manchester United and Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui have struck an agreement to sign.
Mazraoui was being pursued by West Ham United, but due to a breakdown in negotiations, Erik ten Hag was able to finalize a reunion with the right-back from Ajax.
As initially reported by Foot Mercato, United and Bayern have reached an agreement for Mazraoui’s signing, who is eager to join the Premier League and has already agreed to personal terms with the Red Devils. The transfer will cost roughly €25 million (£21.2 million).
According to The Guardian, Ten Hag has pushed for Mazraoui’s acquisition in the hopes that the 26-year-old Morocco international may help bring out the best in his former Ajax teammate Antony. The sum was estimated to be between £15 million and £20 million.
The primary obstacle to this decision, though, is still Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future. It’s thought that before United can complete a deal for Mazraoui, they must sell their own right-back.
Entering the last year of his United contract, Wan-Bissaka was a target for West Ham earlier in the summer, but Mazraoui was the focus instead due to his asking price. However, it is thought that the Hammers have rekindled their interest in Wan-Bissaka.
It is anticipated that a deal for Wan-Bissaka will be completed for a sum of £15 million, which is comparable to the sum that West Ham and Bayern agreed upon for Mazraoui. There have even been stories suggesting that United and West Ham had already reached a deal.
Although Wan-Bissaka and West Ham have not yet agreed on personal terms, there shouldn’t be any major problems during those talks.
The Moroccan is also at ease at left-back, which was recently noted as a trouble spot in Ten Hag’s lineup, thus United’s move for Mazraoui could be crucial.
Tyrell Malacia remained at home to finish his recovery from a knee injury that kept him out of action for the whole previous season, and Luke Shaw has not traveled for preseason as he recuperates from England’s run to the Euro 2024 final.
