Reports from insiders have informed Football Insider that Aston Villa is in negotiations to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.
According to reports, Unai Emery is a “huge” fan of the Spaniard and has the offensive midfielder as his top priority.
Due to interest from other Premier League clubs, Villa will have competition to sign the 24-year-old.
Emery wants to increase his offensive options for the upcoming campaign by adding a “lethal” forward this summer, according to Football Insider.
Felix played 44 appearances in all competitions while on loan at Barcelona during the previous season, tallying six assists and netting 10 goals.
Felix reportedly wants to rejoin the big La Liga teams this summer, but Barcelona does not have the financial wherewithal to sign him.
To sign Joao Felix, Aston Villa will need to pay £50 million.
Felix has a contract with Atletico Madrid through 2029; according to sources, the Spanish team is seeking £50 million for Felix.
Felix has experience playing in the Premier League thanks to his loan stint with Chelsea when he made 20 appearances and scored four goals.
It will help Villa get ready for Champions League action the next season by bringing in a player with that caliber of experience.
Throughout his career, Felix has made 31 appearances in the European tournament, scoring ten goals.
