Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries says he won’t be negotiating a new deal until the summer transfer market closes because he is focused on getting a move away.
Inter is eager to sign the Dutchman to new terms as his contract at San Siro approaches its final year. The Athletic reports that Dumfries, linked to a summer transfer to Manchester United, is keen to leave Inter and is enticed to sign with Erik ten Hag’s Reds.
After joining Inter for £10.7 million plus add-ons, Dumfries spent the previous three years there, making 132 appearances across all competitions while contributing 20 assists and 11 goals. After winning the Coppa Italia the two years prior, the 28-year-old assisted them in winning the Serie A championship the following season. He is considering moving away despite this.
However, Dumfries’ transfer to United would only be feasible if Aaron Wan-Bissaka turned down a West Ham suit. Although the personal terms have not been finalized, the Hammers and United currently have an agreement. According to reports, Wan-Bissaka finds joining Inter appealing, which might lead to a trade including Dumfries.
Though negotiations between the parties are still going on, United would still want to trade Wan-Bissaka to West Ham and sign Noussair Mazraoui to Bayern Munich. Before agreeing to a transfer to Bayern two years ago, Mazraoui was an employee of Erik ten Hag at Ajax. Since then, he has played 55 games for the German powerhouses.
In other news, United is still looking to add a midfield player this summer, and Manuel Ugarte is one of their top targets. However, it seems Manchester United is prepared to let go of the Uruguayan as they refuse to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s outrageous £51.4 million asking price, according to The Athletic.
If PSG lowers its asking price, the agreement might be reevaluated, but for the time being, United is allegedly considering other options, such as Adrien Rabiot, Martin Zubimendi, and Adam Wharton. Sander Berge, a midfielder who was demoted from the Premier League with Burnley the previous season, is reportedly another player being considered.
The 26-year-old, who only arrived at Turf Moor from Sheffield United for £12 million a year ago, is reportedly willing to sell for Burnley. However, after making a comeback to the Championship, the Clarets will need to let go of players, and Berge is someone who could command a high price.
This summer, United has already made two major acquisitions: Joshua Zirkzee, who cost £36.5 million to come from Bologna, and Leny Yoro, who cost £58 million to go from Lille.
