Aston Villa is aiming to have all of its players back healthy before the Premier League resumes this weekend, as they presently have some players away on international duty. Considering everything that has transpired this week, one of them away could be prepared to talk about his future.
International duty has kept Aston Villa players away.
Like every other Premier League team in the last week or two, Villa is hoping that its international players can return to the team unscathed because crucial games are approaching. After starting off the bench against the Republic of Ireland while Trent Alexander-Arnold played right back, Ezri Konsa will be looking to start for England against Finland on Tuesday.
Both of Scotland’s games ended in heartbreak for the players, as midfielder John McGinn was unable to stop his team from losing to Portugal 2-1 on Sunday night and Poland 3-2 in the first game.
This weekend, Villa plays Everton, and Unai Emery will be anxious to have all of his players back healthy, notably Jhon Duran and Emi Martinez, who have been playing for their respective nations in South America and have a lengthy journey back to the Midlands.
The £120,000-per-week star may sign a new contract with Aston Villa.
Sport Witness has received word from the French publication L’Equipe that Lucas Digne, an Aston Villa defender, maybe signing a new contract with the Premier League team. For the first time since June 2022, the left-back has been called up to the France national team.
Manager Didier Deschamps called up Digne because Ferland Mendy was injured and could not play. The defender thought his career with France “had ended” this summer, but he is back in the team and didn’t play in the match against Italy as a substitute.
The £120,000-per-week player’s contract expires in the summer of 2026, but according to L’Equipe, Digne “may be tempted” to sign a new agreement at Villa Park. Given that his experience at Villa gave him his second shot, the player will probably sign a new contract if he can solidify his spot with France.
Despite receiving 46 caps for France, Digne has not yet scored a goal for his nation. Having joined Villa in January 2022, he has participated in almost 100 matches for the Midlands team.
