These days, FC Barcelona is always trying to get their financial status better. Due to their budgetary constraints, La Blaugrana had to guarantee a somewhat lacklustre transfer window; they aim to steer clear of those similar issues. Sadly, Barcelona is still in a situation where these problems plague them.
But going forward, they will have to go past them to carry out their plans for both transfers and renewals. Regarding the latter, it is possibly even more critical to keep the team’s best players on board than it is to add new ones.
Fermin Lopez is one of the players whose prior contract was based on a young record; he extended it in August till 2027 based on that record. But according to the most recent source, the player and Barcelona have finally reached an arrangement that will see him extended with a first-team record.
According to the most recent information from Miguel Rico (via Reshad Rahman), Fermin Lopez and his representative have reached a deal with Barcelona that will keep him committed to the team for an additional five years when he signs it. Details have been agreed upon, but the actual signing and public announcement are still pending.
Lopez would consider this extension to be a huge step up after his performances for Barcelona in the previous season and for Spain at the Summer Olympics. He is an indisputable asset to the squad, and he would now have a contract to prove it.
Even though he is now out due to an unfortunate injury sustained during a previous training session, the club is certain that he will play a significant role in Hansi Flick’s squad when he returns.
Regretfully, Barcelona won’t be able to officially announce this extension until they have the appropriate Financial Fairplay in place. This deal will probably be in a condition of limbo until then, though it may eventually be made official.
The same will hold for the other Barcelona talents whose extensions are currently under consideration. As things stand, the club may make a series of fast announcements later on, when they’ve had time to produce the appropriate kind of FFP and determine what agreements they need to make in advance.
