The best player for Manchester City, Phil Foden, has disclosed his intentions to abruptly leave the sport.
Even though he is only 24 years old, the England international already has a long list of accolades.
Foden, who joined City in 2017, has been a key component of Pep Guardiola’s strategies throughout his triumph at Etihad Stadium.
But Foden already knows what’s probably going to happen next because he has a strong desire to turn his concentration elsewhere once he retires.
As an avid angler, Foden is rumoured to have engaged in the pastime even as England was competing in Euro 2024.
He was recently questioned about his post-football intentions on the YouTube channel of the fishing tackle company Korda.
“This is who I’ll be in retirement. A fishing-related vlog,” Foden said.
My old guy used to take me every time I was around five, and I have always enjoyed it.
“At first, I was just getting little fish, but as I kept at it, I started to catch bigger fish, like carp.
“I go to my neighbourhood and pick up whatever.” It’s the rush; I adore fishing regardless of what I’m doing.
Foden caught a 28-pound carp on the YouTube video, which is just short of his 39-pound personal best.
The 24-year-old continued, “We had lakes on the golf course at the Euros training camp.”
“I would fish for a few carp with the rod.”
Although it’s an unusual pastime, Foden has already acknowledged that the majority of his teammates find his passion perplexing.
According to Foden, who was absent from the City players’ 2018 Premier League victory celebrations because he had a scheduled fishing trip with his father, “probably about 95% of the football lads don’t enjoy it.”
People sometimes remark, “What a strange sport to enjoy,” when they learn that the odd one enjoys fishing. They don’t get why you find it enjoyable.
They must go test it. It seems like the ideal pastime for taking a break and relaxing.
In the past, players like Sergio Aguero, John Terry, Memphis Depay, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo have also shown their love for the game.
