More information regarding the midfielder’s injury has been released, and Alexis Mac Allister is back to playing before Argentina’s World Cup qualifying match against Bolivia.
As an unused replacement for a 1-1 draw with Venezuela, Mac Allister essentially missed Argentina’s opening match of the October break.
Due to a fitness issue, he developed during Liverpool’s 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace, the 25-year-old practised apart from the rest of Lionel Scaloni’s team.
Arne Slot and his team will be crossing their fingers as Argentina gets ready to play Bolivia, but they’re hoping Mac Allister can make more progress in his recuperation.
Mac Allister’s injury was an overload in his right adductor muscle, a recurrence of the damage he sustained a month earlier, according to the Argentine newspaper Clarin.
Before the trip to Crystal Palace, Mac Allister had previously played 827 of 990 minutes (83.5%) for club and country.
This included coming off the bench against Colombia four days after being substituted out of a 3-0 victory over Chile during the September international break due to adductor issues.
It is tough to give him a break given his significance to both Argentina and Liverpool, but thankfully he was given one last week.
Although there will have been discussion between the club and national medical departments, there are undoubtedly questions over Mac Allister’s decision to report for duty this month despite his lingering ailment.
Clarin speculates that the midfield player, along with Rodrigo De Paul and Enzo Fernandez, may rejoin Scaloni’s starting lineup against Bolivia on Tuesday.
Mac Allister is regarded as “the thermometer of the midfield,” and his replacement versus Venezuela, Giovani Lo Celso, “did not have a good performance.” His inclusion is even called “necessary.”
The No. 10 for Liverpool said on Instagram on Sunday: “It’s always an honour to wear this shirt back at home! getting things ready for what’s about to happen.
