Mike Tyson has received a health warning from boxing star Arslanbek Makhmudov before his fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul next month.
Tyson hasn’t participated in a professional fight since quitting the sport almost twenty years ago. He will turn fifty-eight when he enters the ring in four weeks. After falling short against Irishman Kevin McBride in 2005, the former heavyweight world champion hung up his gloves. Four years ago, though, he did return to the ring for an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr.
The two celebrities are expected to square off on November 15 in front of up to 90,000 spectators at AT&T Stadium in Texas, with a purse estimated to be over £30.6 million.
Regarding ‘The Problem Child,’ since making his professional debut in 2020, the 27-year-old has faced opponents like Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Ben Askren. His sole loss in boxing, with a 10-1 professional record, came on points against Tommy Fury the previous year.
The choice to have the bout has drawn a lot of criticism, particularly after Tyson had to cancel the original date in July due to an ulcer flare-up. Makhmudov is another man who has criticised the bout. The Russian, who has a 19-2 professional record as a heavyweight boxer, understands what it’s like to be struck by the big boys.
Makhmudov recently told World Boxing News what he thought of the contentious bout and begged Tyson to avoid risking his health by staying out of the ring. He remarked, “To be honest, I don’t like to see this fight happening.” “Mike Tyson is a legend in our eyes. The tale ought to remain that way. Naturally, I hope he emerges from the battle unscathed, but I don’t want this version of him to be how people remember him.
When asked if he thinks boxers can still compete at 58, Makhmudov, 35, said, “Of course, I believe that people should train no matter what their age is.” Maintaining your health would be ideal. However, there is a distinction between professional boxing competition and training.
“Being punched in the head isn’t healthy, and it’s even worse as you get older—certainly not at 58 years old. Our sport is extremely dangerous.” Jake Paul appears to have some strong boxing talents, so age and striking strength are on his side. However, I don’t know much about him. Since there is a lot already, I naturally believe he has a chance.
Boxing aficionados think that ‘Iron Mike’ is not serious about the match because of his shocking admission. According to the 58-year-old, he was training six hours a day during a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel. “I work out six hours a day, and I am training hard. I may leave the gym at 5 p.m., having started at 11 a.m.,” he remarked. With a horrified expression, Kimmel said, “Oh no. 11 a.m. Is there a lunch break, or is that six hours nonstop? As Kimmel gasped in shock, the former heavyweight champion acknowledged that there had been a slight break. “Oh no.”
When asked if he plans to get high during his fight with Paul in the same interview, Tyson responded, “I’m going to be so high off life, yeah.” “Will you be high on marijuana, as well?” Kimmel then enquired. In response, Tyson said, “That’s a possibility, too.” “Oh no,” the host said, “my bet is getting lower as we talk.”
