Thomas Tuchel has contacted one of Chelsea’s employees regarding joining him in England, according to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.
The former Blues manager was named the next Three Lions manager earlier this week, signing an 18-month deal to replace Gareth Southgate, who resigned after the summer Euros.
Anthony Barry is now joining Tuchel as his assistant manager as he looks to assemble his team at Wembley Stadium. At Bayern Munich and Chelsea, the two collaborated.
According to Maresca, Tuchel has spoken with one person on leaving the team, confirming rumors that the German manager will try to hire some of his employees from Stamford Bridge.
He stated: “I am aware that one of the analysts has been contacted.” We are really willing to let people take risks.
“I heard something about Hilario, the other one, but no one has approached yet. In addition to being delighted to retain people, we are open-minded enough to let them take chances.”
James Melbourne has been widely quoted as the staff member that England has approached, despite Maresca’s own lack of confirmation. Although a move to the Three Lions is definitely in the cards, he is currently the Blues’ head of performance analysis.
Although it’s unclear if they would be willing to grant him a full-time post as part of their backroom staff at this time, Hilario, who made 20 appearances in eight years as a Chelsea player, has also been connected to England.
Maresca wished Tuchel well in his new position, even though he knew that some of his employees might leave to rejoin their old boss. “Best wishes, Thomas,” he said. Not much more. If those in authority make decisions for him, it’s because they believe in him.”
The Chelsea manager continued by discussing how he is preparing a complete team for this weekend’s trip to Liverpool. Despite the absence of Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella, Maresca has no injury-forced absences, and captain Reece James is available for the first time this season.
