García Pimienta, the head coach of Sevilla, was eager to express his respect for Barcelona player Ansu Fati during their Sunday meeting.
Barca and Sevilla faced off late last night, with the former winning 5-1.
The aforementioned Ansu, on the other hand, was given his first start of the season after Eric García sustained an injury during the hosts’ warm-up, forcing Hansi Flick to make changes.
Ansu, a wide player, had a very uneventful game and came very close to scoring multiple times until his poor finishing let him down.
This comes as the 21-year-old puts in a lot of effort to regain the kind of play that once made him the next big thing in Spanish football.
However, García Pimienta is the one person who is adamant that Ansu has all the traits required to rediscover his best.
Following the final whistle on Sunday, Sevilla’s head coach spoke to the media, showcasing the skills of a player who was widely expected to join his team in the summer.
Furthermore, Pimienta lavished Ansu with praise in statements collected by Diario Sport, stating:
We already know that Ansu is an excellent football player; I know him well from his time with the youth and reserve teams, and the injury’s unfortunate outcome didn’t affect him in the slightest. He enters and discovers the competition at Barça, but I do not doubt that he will become the outstanding player he ever was. He works hard and is a competitive animal.
