The 2024 season may be over for Novak Djokovic as he has withdrawn from the Rolex Paris Masters next week.
Throughout his career, Djokovic, 37, has performed well in Paris.
Last year, the 24-time Grand Slam champion defeated Grigor Dimitrov in the final to win the seventh Paris Masters. Along with winning the gold medal at the Olympics in Paris this summer, the Serb also won the French Open three times.
In Saudi Arabia last week, Djokovic participated in the 6 Kings Slam. He defeated long-time rival Rafael Nadal in the third-place match but lost to eventual champion and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the semifinals.
Currently ranked No. 4 in the world and No. 6 in the ATP Race to Turin, he is 37-9 this season. He still has the option to compete in the Nitto ATP Finals, which take place in Turin, Italy, from November 10–17.
Djokovic may decide to retire in 2024 and focus on attempting to win a record 25th Grand Slam championship in January at the Australian Open.
Before losing to Alexei Popyrin in the third round of the U.S. Open in August, he stated, “I still want to make more history and enjoy myself on the tour.” “I still want to encourage a lot of young people to play and watch tennis.”
“Those are a few of the reasons I continue to do so. Our sport is built on grand slams. They are “the” most significant tennis events in our history. Therefore, it’s difficult to play your best tennis anywhere else if you don’t become motivated and inspired to do so during Grand Slams.
