Despite the Bayern Munich player being linked to a move to Barcelona, Joshua Kimmich was full of praise for the Catalan powerhouse and its manager, Hansi Flick.
There won’t be a shortage of suitors if the Germany international doesn’t sign a new contract in Bavaria before his current one expires at the end of the current campaign.
The adaptable midfielder and defender has been connected to teams like Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Barcelona has also been mentioned as a potential suitor if he becomes available on a free transfer.
When Bayern and Barcelona played in the Champions League on Wednesday night at Camp Nou, Kimmich didn’t hesitate to brag about his rivals since he knew they were watching him.
Kimmich responded, “I’m not thinking about that,” when asked if he would consider moving to Barcelona. But in both life and football, you should never rule anything out. Spain’s national team and Barcelona both had a significant influence.
My childhood idol was Xavi Hernandez, and I would constantly watch the games with Pep as the coach and the Tiki-Taka. They served as an example.
“Hansi created a good spirit back then,” Kimmich continued, referring to former Bayern manager Flick, who is currently in charge of Barcelona. He instilled a great deal of faith in the athletes and everyone else. Additionally, there were moments when we players doubted ourselves.
We all enjoyed the amazing football game we played after that. We established a rapport and had faith in the style of game we were playing. the was the focus of the period.
The 29-year-old indicated that a stay at Bayern Munich past this season is still a possibility, even though he made it obvious that he was not ruling out a departure.
“Everyone is aware that I am in discussions with the club,” he stated. “What I talk about with the club stays inside.” I refuse to discuss it at a press conference.
Under new manager Vincent Kompany, Kimmich has continued to be a key member of the Bayern team, starting all seven of the team’s Bundesliga games this season as well as both of their Champions League contests.
Over the summer, Kompany made a huge move from Burnley to Bayern, and Kimmich was immediately impressed by his work ethic.
“He is very structured,” the German observed of the Belgian at the beginning of the season. You can tell that he cares about the information he shares and that it reaches us. He prioritises the team spirit and is incredibly motivated.
