Aston Villa won the Champions League 2-0 on Tuesday, and the team’s captain, John McGinn, believes the players are thrilled about what they may accomplish this year.
Emery was hired two years ago on Thursday when Villa was just above the Premier League relegation zone. Their incredible turnaround is still going strong.
McGinn asserted that the manager is creating something “amazing,” but he claims there is no possibility he will let players slow down.
We are thrilled, he remarked. The manager is the only one who doesn’t get thrilled, in my opinion.
As he claims, he is that demanding of us every single day and simply puts all of his energy into it.
“He prevents us from decelerating so we can exert our enthusiasm, energy, and excitement.” He is unrivalled in his energy and resolve.
He will undoubtedly be remembered as one of our club’s best managers, regardless of what occurs between now and his departure, which we pray never happens.
Fans of Emery’s club, who now sit fourth in the Premier League, are optimistic that the drought may be broken even though Villa hasn’t taken home a major trophy since the League Cup in 1996.
“He is just so driven,” McGinn went on to say. He is unlike anyone I have ever met.
He has told me on a few occasions that while he was a decent football player, he wishes he had the same level of drive and diligence as a manager.
“No one can doubt the amount of effort he puts forth; hard work is the foundation of all that comes his way and ours.
You are nourished by your leader. We take strength from the fact that he is our leader. He is undoubtedly making many of us better. The place has a wonderful vibe.
“I am aware that both on and off the pitch, we can do better. We know about those things.
“However, we are headed in the right direction, and hopefully, over the next few years, everything will fall into place.”
In their first season back in Europe’s top club competition after 41 years, Villa has won three of its first three Champions League games, with McGinn scoring the first goal and Jhon Duran scoring for the seventh time this season.
The captain acknowledged that the goal is now to place in the top eight of the league phase in order to guarantee a spot in the last-16 and avoid the play-off round.
“We are proud of where we are, at the top of the league table right now,” McGinn stated. We are now in a fantastic position to move forward.
“Getting into the next round is our priority, but it would be fantastic if we could continue to place in the top eight.
“Like last year, you missed the playoffs if you finished first in your Conference League group.
“We want to advance as far as possible in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup given the schedule and number of games you can play.
“Next week, Palace will be here, and we want to win. It would be advantageous to skip two games, but if we must, we must play them. We are in the highest division of European football, so there won’t be any complaints.
