For the Nations League games in November, Jurrien Timber has been left off of the Netherlands’ tentative roster.
A muscle injury sustained during Arsenal’s 2-0 victory against Paris Saint-Germain has kept the centre-back out of action for almost a month. The 23-year-old has recovered more slowly than anticipated after returning to training this week.
One of Mikel Arteta’s team’s mainstays has been Timber. As a result of the Dutch defender’s contributions, the Gunners have developed a potent defensive unit and are now the closest title contenders to Manchester City.
Regarding Timber’s fitness, however, Arteta gave a concerning report prior to Sunday’s crucial Premier League matchup with Liverpool. He acknowledges that he had hoped Timber would be healing more quickly.
The Spaniard told reporters, “He’s had the first session with which he could be somewhat involved.” “He has been absent for some time. Again, we must wait and see, but we thought he would be farther back than he is now.
Additionally, the Netherlands announced their preliminary team on Friday for their Nations League matches against Bosnia and Hungary the following month. Timber is still a long way from being fully recovered, as evidenced by manager Ronald Koeman’s decision to not choose him.
Arteta presently has several injury issues with his team, including Timber. Along with Martin Odegaard, two more important players who might miss Sunday’s match are Bukayo Saka and Riccardo Calafiori.
“We’re going to do our very best to somehow have them available,” Arteta stated. “It’s very, very uncertain.”
