As he revealed the Egyptian’s “obsession” with breaking records, Steven Gerrard expressed his hope that Mohamed Salah will prolong his time at Liverpool.
Salah’s future at Anfield remains uncertain as his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, similar to that of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. According to later reports, the winger is “desperate” to stay on Merseyside, despite having already stated that he is in his final season with the Reds.
However, Liverpool is running out of time to sign him to a new contract. Salah will have the option to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in the new year if he doesn’t sign a new deal before January.
After Al-Ittihad’s unsuccessful attempt last year, the 32-year-old is still being linked to a move to Saudi Arabia. However, GIVEMESPORT claims that because Salah hasn’t approved a move to the Middle East yet, the Pro League is willing to wait until after 2025 to sign him.
With seven goals and an equal number of assists in 12 games this season, he is not displaying any signs of slowing down at Liverpool. Former Liverpool captain Gerrard, who is currently managing in Saudi Arabia, talked candidly about what he has been told about Salah and how he maintains his peak performance in an interview with The Redmen TV.
“I believe he is enamoured with the game, so I’m not surprised,” Gerrard remarked. “I believe you can see his regimen and the form of his body. I follow him on social media, of course, and I always have a lot to say.
I often ask John (Achterberg) what he would want to see on a database. John claims that he wants to smash records and is completely consumed with being the best. He wants to be regarded as the greatest.
Therefore, his approach to his work does not surprise me. And when the time inevitably comes for him to move on, I believe he will be one of those players that we will all value even more. I’m hoping that Mo Salah will be around for a few more years.
Because of his professionalism and shape, I believe he can continue to provide for many more years. Thus, I’m hoping he remains. I hope we get more from him, but I’m not shocked because those who are passionate about their work and possess that degree of skill are always able to perform consistently.
