One of Man City’s best players might leave the team in the next transfer window.
Manchester United is expected to face fierce competition for one of their top transfer targets, while a Man City player may depart the team if one of his teammates signs a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.
After Ederson secures a new contract, Stefan Ortega might “quit” Manchester City.
It is believed that Ederson, the goalkeeper for Manchester City, is negotiating a new deal with the Sky Blues. According to Football Insider, if he signed a contract, backup goalie Stefan Ortega might leave.
In the hierarchy at Etihad Stadium, Ortegs is much behind Ederson. He is 32 years old, he is not getting any younger, and he wants to play football with the first squad. The Brazilian international will have a far lower likelihood of being City’s number one if he signs a new contract.
The German goalie may therefore decide to quit the Citizens in order to pursue regular first-team play. As of right now, it is not finalized because Ederson is reportedly attracting interest from several Saudi Pro League clubs. He has a contract with City through the summer of 2026, so they are unable to start formal negotiations with him just yet, but they may still make him an attractive offer.
Following the expiration of his contract with Arminia Bielefeld, Ortega joined City on a free transfer in 2022. He has only made 12 Premier League outings since. Ederson, meanwhile, moved from Benfica to Manchester in 2017 and has already made 260 league appearances.
Manchester United is up against fierce competition to sign Viktor Gyokeres.
In recent weeks, Manchester United has been strongly connected to a deal for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres; these rumours have intensified since new head coach Ruben Amorim is expected to arrive at Old Trafford.
Large clubs like Manchester City, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich will compete with them, though, according to L’Equipe, which might make a possible transfer for the player more difficult. He recently attracted attention from fans all over the world after scoring a hat-trick versus City in the Champions League.
Fernandez would be extremely beneficial to Maresca if he could play with the Ecuadorian international in a more advanced role. As a result, he might get into the starting lineup more frequently, beating Lavia.
