Ruben Amorim will bring his ideas and approaches to Manchester United, entirely different from what Erik ten Hag had used there.
Although the Portuguese manager prefers a back-three defence, certain players may find his tactical change advantageous, while others may find it difficult to adjust.
All of the new players would want to do their best to win over the new manager and be included in his future plans.
According to Paul Scholes, a legend of Manchester United, Amorim should utilize Kobbie Mainoo, a young English midfielder, in a more advanced role.
Scholes asserted on TNT Sports that Mainoo could play as a number 10 in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 system.
He stated:
What you don’t see here is that he has two number tens. Additionally, I believe he has the players. Fernandes is unquestionably one of them.
I believe Mainoo might also be one of them. He would, in my opinion, be a better player, playing higher up as a 10 with some security in the back. It would fit him better, in my opinion.
Mainoo’s strongest position thus far has been in the midfield of Manchester United, where he typically plays in a double pivot.
Whether the new manager will move him to a more senior role is still up in the air.
The young midfield player has demonstrated the ability to adjust to various sets, and his club and national team performances have demonstrated that he is willing to modify his style of play to suit the manager’s requirements.
For both England and Manchester United, Kobbie Mainoo has excelled.
Mainoo gave his utmost effort and was one of the greatest players for his squad under both Ten Hag at Manchester United and Gareth Southgate with England.
With his deft touches and passing, he has demonstrated that he can dribble and escape confined spaces.
Since the players would be playing in a different structure, new roles would need to be established, and the manager would ultimately decide which players he liked in each position.
