Ruben Amorim, the new head coach of Manchester United, has stated how happy he is to be joining Manuel Ugarte at Old Trafford again.
After managing Sporting CP’s final game this weekend, Amorim will start his term at Old Trafford the following week. When United visits recently promoted Ipswich Town on November 24, it will be his first game in charge.
Even though he didn’t start his job until November 11, Amorim seems to be weighing his choices at Old Trafford. The 39-year-old said he was excited to work with Ugarte once more after the two of them won the Primeira Liga title together at Sporting CP in 2023.
“I love all Uruguayans because they are amazing,” Amorim stated in an interview with TNT Sports on Friday. Ugarte is a gifted young man with plenty of untapped potential. He is back at Manchester United, which makes me very delighted!
Since joining United in August for £50 million from Paris Saint-Germain, Uruguayan Ugarte has had to wait patiently for opportunities at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old has started all three of the games under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy’s supervision, despite only receiving one starting spot before Erik ten Hag was fired in October.
“Casemiro and Ugarte, that could be the start of something,” the United icon stated after Ugarte’s performance in United’s 2-0 victory over PAOK on Thursday wowed Paul Scholes.
“It appears that Amorim and I could have a successful collaboration. That, in my opinion, gives Bruno a little more leeway up top of the field.
When Leicester City visits Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, Van Nistlerooy will be in charge of his last United match.
