Since Saturday, there has only been one main focus for Liverpool and the club’s supporters, with attention—and ire—concentrated on a legitimate Luis Diaz goal in the Reds’ 2-1 loss at Tottenham that was overturned owing to a VAR mistake.
It’s been hard to let go of, especially in light of Liverpool’s recent title losses that were narrowly decided by disputed officials, but the Europa League action on Thursday will provide as a welcome diversion.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, a right back, stated, “Our attention is on the game right now. “As players, we have no power to change what has happened. We are now concentrating on a different competition and a major three-point goal.
Restarting for the Europa League, Liverpool defeated LASK in their group stage opener two weeks ago. They now play Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, or Union SG, of Belgium, who took third in the previous campaign and are presently leading the Pro League.
While Toulouse and Union SG were the Reds’ more difficult group stage opponents in the 2023–24 season, LASK, who finished second in Group E, was thought to be their toughest competition.
After a 1-1 tie in their first match two weeks ago, Union and Toulouse will enter their match against Liverpool as underdogs, but they’ll believe they can win provided they play their best and the Reds’ attentions aren’t elsewhere.
We currently have two games left before the international break, and we feel as though we must win both of them, says Alexander-Arnold. “It will be challenging, but we believe we can accomplish it. Our attention is directed there.
