After a run of strong performances for the team, Mikel Arteta hailed Takehiro Tomiyasu’s “versatility” and “professionalism.”
Due to injuries and self-doubt, Tomiyasu had a challenging year that affected his play and caused him to drop in the Arsenal hierarchy.
However, the 24-year-old has recovered more fully this season and, when chosen, has an influence all over the defensive line.
Tomiyasu was excellent in Seville, Arteta confirmed to reporters on Friday. “He played a really, really good game against Chelsea as well, in my opinion.
“Tomi is a player who has a great following there.” When it comes to training, he always starts first and leaves last. When you give him an assignment, he will sacrifice his life to do it.
He is a very skilled player who offers us a level of versatility and attributes that no one else on the team possesses. He’s a tremendously significant player in my opinion.
Arteta was eager to emphasize how challenging it is to be truly “versatile” at the highest level when asked to describe the value of his adaptability.
Since each game tells a unique story, you need players who are adaptable enough to fill a variety of roles when necessary and who are also comfortable doing so.
That’s a challenging situation because you begin training a player daily in a different position and then expect him to perform in a particular capacity.
Physically, the expectations are tough and it’s taxing because you’re unfamiliar with the situation, but Tomi always adjusts to it in a really natural way.
