In order to make room for Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch, five senior midfielders had to exit the Reds during the summer’s big surgery in the middle of the park.
The average age of Liverpool’s players in that part of the pitch has significantly decreased, and the manager is happy with how that transition has gone.
Before the new season, Klopp acknowledged that “it was time” to restock his midfield, noting that each of the newcomers offers “different” attributes to the group.
People want change when it’s appropriate; you don’t want to make changes when they don’t need to, and then people will ask you, “Hey, why did we change?” the manager clarified, as stated by the official club website.
However, it was evidently time. It’s fantastic to move from the league’s oldest midfield to almost the youngest.
“Every player we added is exceptional and unique. Fab and Macca are not the same No. 6. Wataru, Dom, Ryan, and even them are unique.
“I adore the staff; it’s great to work with and incredibly cool.
Indeed, there is possibility. It is now up to us to work together to ensure that it is produced at a consistently high standard.
Because of Endo’s age, some people wonder, ‘Why is he not like that?’
“You can see the progress he is making and how different he is from the other boys.”
“He still has five more years of elite football left in him.”
“He has a lot of potential and has never played at this level before, but now that he is performing consistently, I am really happy with him.”
With their revitalised midfield, Liverpool is soaring, trailing Premier League leaders Tottenham by just three points. They have also started flawlessly in the League Cup and Europa League.
It’s intriguing to see that Klopp sees Endo as a long-term member of the team despite his age of thirty, because the other summer additions are all younger than twenty-five.
While it was obvious that the Reds needed to make midfield adjustments during the summer transfer window, it was unexpected that Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left to join the Saudi Pro League.
Particularly Szoboszlai has adapted quickly to life at Anfield, and Klopp will be hoping his team can keep up its good work in order to win some hardware in May.
