In Season 11, the Tokyo E-Prix will collaborate with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as well. After been reviewed and approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council and the host ASN, JAF, the provisional schedule for Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is expected to be revealed in June of the following year.
Tokyo E-Prix street circuit layout is unveiled
Just minutes from downtown Tokyo, the Tokyo International Exhibition Centre, often known as Tokyo Big Sight, is the largest facility in Japan. The difficult 18-turn, 2.582km street circuit will encircle the venue.
The track features three noteworthy straightaways, intricate sequences with tight turns, and fast-paced combinations all set against the breathtaking background of Tokyo. Experts in Formula E track design are certain that the circuit will present a test for the 22 competitors in the championship while offering the most thrills and entertainment for spectators attending the race and television viewers watching from across the globe.
The Tokyo Bay shoreline will host the paddock area, which will include the garages where teams and drivers prepare the GEN3 race cars and plot their racing tactics.
For the first time, public highways in Tokyo will be blocked for a world championship event and public road race, which will increase the usage of ZEVs in the city. The race is also the first Formula E event to take place in Tokyo.
Like previous Formula E races in well-known global cities like Berlin, London, and Mexico City, the Tokyo E-Prix will provide spectators with convenient access to public transit, which is a crucial component of Formula E’s unmatched sustainability credentials.
Formula E is the first sport to be rated net zero carbon since its beginning and is officially the most sustainable sport in the world. Formula E leads the industry in seamlessly fusing cutting edge technology, innovation, and sustainability with top-tier sportsmanship.
Alberto Longo, Co-Founder and Chief Championship Officer of Formula E, stated, “We are thrilled to reveal the course for the inaugural Tokyo E-Prix and are confident it will create a unique challenge for the 22 drivers in Formula E to showcase their elite driving skills and give fans in Tokyo an experience they will never forget.” It is an honor for us to be the first global motorsport championship to compete on Tokyo’s streets.
