Barcelona extends an offer to the €80 million-rated midfield talent
FC Barcelona must now focus on both preparing for the upcoming season and trying to salvage the current one now that the winter transfer window has closed.
There’s plenty of work ahead of the Catalans in this area. A center and a winger are two players that Deco and his crew must acquire in addition to finding Xavi’s replacement.
Araujo and De Jong’s cases require the utmost haste. Barcelona will also be trying to extend the contracts of a few of its players in addition to these medical procedures.
Barcelona has reportedly made an offer to extend Frenkie de Jong‘s contract, which runs through 2026, according to a report from SPORT.
His affiliation with the Catalan club will continue until 2029 thanks to the new contract, although the salary provided to him is less than what he is now making with Barcelona, even if the club has not yet paid him any delayed earnings.
In the meanwhile, De Jong is open to joining another team and is willing to consider offers, unlike in prior years.
Barcelona will be able to maintain one of the most crucial members of their team for a number of more years and drastically lower their salary bill load if De Jong accepts this renewal. For Barcelona to be free of the Financial Fair Play restrictions placed on them by La Liga, these cuts are necessary.
As of right now, it’s unclear how the talks will proceed. Barcelona is unwilling to change the terms that they have offered and have made their offer. De Jong want to stay a player for Barcelona, but he will take serious consideration to any compelling offer that comes his way.
