Bo Henriksen has been named the new head coach of Mainz. He signed a two-year contract that will keep him with the team until 2026
Bo Henriksen, the 49-year-old, who spent 18 years managing Brønshøj, Horsens, and Midtjylland in his own country after a protracted career as a player, joins the 05ers from FC Zürich.
He takes over at the MEWA Arena for Jan Siewert, who managed the team for 12 games but only managed one victory.
“We have looked intensively at our current situation and analysed which type of coach with which footballing approach suits us in this difficult sporting situation,” managing director Christian Heidel said in a statement following the hire.
This brought us to Bo Henriksen, a coach who has accomplished this repeatedly during his career and who has assembled teams in a variety of challenging circumstances while producing football that is brave, bold, and ultimately successful.
Furthermore, Mainz 05 will benefit greatly from Bo Henriksen’s impassioned, candid, and opinionated nature, who exudes an immensely pleasant spirit.
Nine points off of assured safety, Mainz are currently sitting in 17th place in the Bundesliga standings. Henriksen’s reign will begin on Saturday when his new team plays Augsburg.
