Cole Palmer has shared details about his forthcoming weekend return to the Etihad.
Cole Palmer spent £42.5 million during the summer transfer window to move from Manchester City to Chelsea. Since joining the Stamford Bridge team, he has already tallied 12 goals and contributed nine assists.
The 21-year-old also says he hopes to show Pep Guardiola what he let go of before making his way back to the Etihad this weekend. “I don’t know [if it will be another classic], but it’s going to be a hard game,” he remarked.
“Yes, I am excited to return to the Etihad; the team and I are both looking forward to it, even though it will be unusual and weird.
“I obviously wasn’t getting it at City, so I moved to Chelsea to play every week and receive minutes. I came here in search of a chance, and I’m grateful for the club that is currently in operation. All I have to do is keep going and advance a little further.
Palmer responded, “Yes, I just try to do that every game, so we’ll see,” when asked if he was relishing the opportunity to show Guardiola what he was missing.
Chelsea overcame a deficit to win at Selhurst Park thanks to two goals from Conor Gallagher, which put more strain on Roy Hodgson, the manager of Crystal Palace. On the other hand, Mauricio Pochettino felt less pressure after the win.
Palmer stated, “It was a big win against Villa and to win again at Palace was good for the momentum.”
There’s a lot of discussion, and you know what football supporters are like: Chelsea is a major club, and we’ve watched them win a number of titles over the years. If we don’t win, they’ll be sure to find out.
However, I believe you’ve seen from the last two games that we’re making an effort to remain unified in our growth and to continue playing as a team. Every day the manager comes to our aid. It’s merely brief exchanges of information about what needs to be done. He gives us a tone of support, and the manager deserves praise for keeping us all together.
From the very beginning, he has been incredible with me. Yes, I am enjoying it. When I first walked in, he just put his arm around me and gave me the freedom and confidence to go outside and play.
“He believes in us, and we have meetings. We have confidence in ourselves, but if you’re not feeling well, people will talk to you. All we have to do is attempt to ignore it and concentrate on ourselves.
