Bayern Munich is reportedly eager to sign Bruno Fernandes, who has already threatened to leave Manchester United under one condition. According to reports, the German powerhouses have identified Fernandes as a surprise transfer target and want to bring him to the Allianz Arena.
O Jogo claims that Fernandes’ agency has already contacted Bayern to inquire about the potential of a summer transfer. Barcelona is rumoured to have shown interest in signing the Portuguese midfield player, but they haven’t started negotiations with either United or the player’s camp.
The 29-year-old is not expected to be traded by the Red Devils until the summer of 2026, so there is no pressing need for them to do so. But he has made the suggestion that he might try to leave if he feels that the club is no longer able to fulfil his goals.
Before the FA Cup final last month, Fernandes stated to the Players’ Tribune that he was not interested in leaving United, but he did not promise to stay if his expectations were not fulfilled.
“I love to step out at Old Trafford more than anything in the world,” he stated. “I’d prefer not to go. My dream come true has always been this one. All I want is for my standards to match the club’s standards. Every fan you speak with will tell you the same thing.
“We want to be in the league and compete. We want to be playing football in the Champions League. We hope to play in the cup finals. That’s the norm.
In an April interview with DAZN, Fernandes expressed even more uncertainty about his future at United by stating: “It doesn’t only depend on me, does it? A gamer must desire to be here at all times. You have to wish for him to stay, though.
“I think that’s present on both sides right now. I’m not giving the future a lot of thought, not least because, clearly, neither individually nor collectively, this season has gone as well as I had planned.
“If you want me to be very honest, if I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League, it won’t be until after the Euros as there’s nothing more important than that at the moment.”
Only a few players are supposedly untouchable this summer, and the Red Devils are apparently open to offers for the great majority of their first-team roster. Fernandes isn’t included in that exclusive group, which raises the prospect that he might leave United in the summer.”I think that’s present on both sides right now.
