No one has left Liverpool this summer as Arne Slot assesses his squad.
Richard Hughes, the Reds’ sporting director, and Slot have only been with the team for a few months.
As a result, it seems to reason that they would want to assess the Liverpool squad before making any incoming or leaving moves.
Nonetheless, they may be forced to act sooner rather than later. Nat Phillips has already received bids, while Sepp van den Berg is also garnering interest.
It’s unclear whether Liverpool will allow either to leave. However, they may not be the only ones leaving Anfield this summer.
Calls for Caoimhin Kelleher to depart from Liverpool
It appears that Liverpool’s summer transfer plans will mostly hinge on if any players are actually leaving.
Making room for a slightly bloated roster appears to be the main priority for the Liverpool owners rather than increasing their bankroll.
The Reds might not actually need to add more players if Slot manages to hold onto all of them. But if the head coach loses a few, Liverpool might then have to take action.
The goalkeeping department is one role where this is more applicable than any other. Adrian was Liverpool’s third-choice goalie before he was lost, and Caoimhin Kelleher’s future is still uncertain.
Last season, Kelleher excelled as he skillfully filled in for the injured Alisson Becker. However, at 25, he is eager to break through as a No. 1. Liverpool has set Kelleher’s wishlist at £25 million for anyone who is ready to pay it forward.
No offer has been made as of yet. However, there is still a lot of time in the window, so things could change.
Heimir Hallgrimsson, the new manager of Ireland, says Kelleher had best hope it works. According to Hallgrimsson, it would be “a shame” if the goalkeeper could not sign with a new team by the end of August, as quoted in the Irish Mirror.
The Icelandic coach says, “Of course [he should leave], especially after he proved to everyone that he can play at the highest level.” “It would be unfortunate if he stopped playing frequently after demonstrating to everyone his talent and caliber of play.”
Who might be the next No. 2 for Liverpool?
If Kelleher departs, Liverpool will have to find a replacement. Of course, they have the promising Vitezslav Jaros, who has excelled while on loan in Austria.
However, Jaros is destined to remain Adrian’s backup plan and might not be prepared for a more senior position.
Over the years, Kelleher has been an excellent backup to Alisson, so Liverpool would suffer a significant loss if he were to go. It would be challenging to replace the Irishman.
However, the Reds may give it a shot as several goalkeepers have been connected to them. Although there haven’t been any recent links to Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow, he might still be a possibility.
Bento Krepski, a goalkeeper from Brazil, is one who most definitely won’t be signed. Bento was being considered by Liverpool, but he is expected to join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Watch this story out to see how it concludes.
