Manchester United are set to welcome their second acquisition of the summer, sought-after teenager Leny Yoro.
The Lille prospect was on the radar of a number of prominent European teams entering the transfer window, including the Red Devils, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool.
However, when all rumors suggested Yoro only wanted to play for Madrid and was willing to see out his contract to secure a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, talks with PSG and Liverpool broke through.
Meanwhile, United chose to accelerate their interest. They tested Lille’s determination with a £52 million bid, which was much greater than Madrid’s offer, and it was quickly accepted by the Ligue 1 club.
The athlete considered it for a few days until Yoro came around to the notion of playing for the 20-time winners going forward.
After completing his physical yesterday, he took a plane to Manchester, where he is anticipated to sign a five-year contract.
Reds detect Yoro’s cues before the transfer is completed.
On Wednesday night, the keen-eyed Reds noticed what they take to be some significant clues that Yoro was heading to United; he deleted the name “Lille” from his Instagram profile and started following fellow rookie Ethan Wheatley, who made his senior debut for the team the previous season.
It’s quite likely that the Frenchman got to know Wheatley when he was still at Carrington yesterday, when the team was getting ready for their final preseason game against the Rangers on Saturday.
