When Aryna Sabalenka was forced to withdraw from the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, she gave an update on her shoulder issue.
Due to his status as one of the world’s finest players, the Belarusian star has had a very busy year. He played a lot of tennis. She usually has a deep run wherever she performs, which is what happened at the majority of her competitions this year.
Of the 10 events she participated in, she advanced to at least the quarterfinals in seven of them, putting a great deal of physical strain on her body. Although it’s not a rule, players that play a lot often begin to have certain physical problems; Sabalenka was one of those guys.
An excessive amount of tennis only leaves a mark. For her, it took place at the Berlin Open, which gained notoriety this year due to multiple injuries. In addition to Sabalenka, who had a shoulder injury in the German city, Marketa Vondrousova and Anna Kalinskaya both hurt themselves while tripping on the court.
It turned out to be serious, as she withdrew from her quarterfinal match at the WTA 500 event. Many were surprised to learn that she would not be competing at Wimbledon, as she was one of the players who was anticipated to do well there.
She won a set in both of her previous two tournament outings that concluded in the semi-final, demonstrating her skill as a grass-court player. She was sadly unable to attend the event due to the injuries, but it also presented her with a chance.
She had stated earlier in the year that she would not participate in the Paris Olympics because of exhaustion from playing so much tennis; therefore, her withdrawals from Wimbledon and the Olympics provided her with a mid-season rest.
Theoretically, she could have utilized that time to heal from her injuries and prepare for the forthcoming US Open swing, where she performed admirably, and that’s precisely what she did.
She answered a few fan queries on Instagram, one of which concerned her shoulder issue, from which she has fully recovered.
“My last ultrasound showed that my shoulder has healed, so I got to start playing tennis again this week.”
Sabalenka declares her shoulder to be completely well.
It’s evident from that assurance that Sabalenka is returning to tennis really swiftly. It will take place the following week at the 2024 Citi Open in Washington, which starts on July 29 and ends on August 4. She also verified it on Instagram after a fan inquired about her upcoming performance location.
“Washington D.C.”
Sabalenka affirms her involvement with Washington
It’s an early warm-up for Sabalenka’s US Open, which she lost to Coco Gauff 2-6 6-3 6-2 in the final last year. The event starts two days after the Olympics in Paris, where she won’t compete, of course.
She wasn’t in Washington last year, and her winnings from that year aren’t coming at the same rate. Expect a motivated Sabalenka, as she only had 30 wins after Wimbledon this year compared to 42 last year.
