All around Europe, there is growing interest in Sepp van den Berg transfers.
PSV Eindhoven has reportedly offered a formal bid for the Dutchman’s services this summer in the amount of £8.4 million; Liverpool “immediately rejected” the offer, according to Fabrizio Romano’s tweet on X (previously Twitter).
After revealing to Dutch media about two months ago that he intended to leave the team, the 22-year-old defender is now actively training with Liverpool’s senior team and taking part in preseason games.
This summer, will Sepp van den Berg be sold?
PSV is not the only group that has expressed interest in our No. 72. German media said that Hoffenheim and Mainz, two Bundesliga teams, were also considered to be interested.
Even if a buyer matches our £20 million assessment, Van den Berg’s summertime departure from Anfield is far from guaranteed.
The former PEC Zwolle player has apparently beyond the expectations of the coaching staff, especially our new head coach Arne Slot, according to sources close to the club.
Is this just rhetoric intended to raise the asking price? Maybe. However, we imagine that these stories about the player’s preseason growth have a good deal of truth to them.
Although it would be good to have more cash on hand before a perhaps hectic August, it would probably be considerably more advantageous for Liverpool to find a role for the former loan star before the 2024–2025 season.
On that front, only time will tell.
