Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk has rapidly won Arne Slot over, and the defender’s training regimen has even impressed Slot.
According to Dutch winger Anco Jansen, who chatted with Slot about the defender and discovered he’s already a huge fan, this is what he says (via FC Update).
A while back, Jansen stated that he had been conversing with Slot over the international break while appearing as a guest on ESPN’s Voetbalpraat program.
It appears that the two discussed Liverpool when they took a break to play Padel court, which is hardly surprising considering Slot’s impressive start to his career at Anfield.
It appears that Slot is already a big fan of Van Dijk, the player about whom Jansen wanted to speak specifically.
“Then he said about Van Dijk that he is an incredibly good football player. During training, he said, “It was good at position games.”
Now that he was getting to know him, he declared, “This boy is not normal when it comes to playing football.”
At the European Championships, he lacked initiative. More often than not, he walked backwards. He didn’t leave much of an impression. If you see him during Liverpool’s upcoming campaign,
The key concern is whether Van Dijk and Liverpool can sustain the excellent start they’ve had under Slot.
So far, there are encouraging signals, and the way the Dutchman seems to have rejuvenated certain players is also quite encouraging.
Van Dijk is going to be a key component of Liverpool’s success, and after observing the Dutchman up close, it appears Slot also sees that.
