According to 90min, Luka Modric has informed Real Madrid that he intends to remain with the team for at least another season.
The midfielder, who played for Real Madrid and won a Ballon d’Or and five UEFA Champions Leagues, is one of the best players in the history of the game. Even at the advanced age of 37, Modric continues to give his all for Los Blancos.
Despite these outstanding performances, Modric’s advancing years have caused Real to start looking for long-term replacements for the Croatian and longtime comrade Toni Kroos.
Huge sums of money were spent on Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga in recent years, and they are now close to signing England superstar Jude Bellingham. Camavinga has remarkably improved to become one of the greatest full-backs in Europe.
Following a fruitful meeting with the player’s father, 90min revealed last week that the current European champions are close to signing the 19-year-old from Borussia Dortmund, beating out rivals Manchester City and Liverpool for his services.
Modric’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu has been seriously questioned by the impending acquisition of Bellingham because of a projected shortage of playing time in the upcoming season.
Modric has reportedly confirmed his commitment to the club for at least another year despite this and interest from the Middle East and MLS clubs. The midfielder is expected to join Kroos and Karim Benzema in signing a new one-year contract at the club.
After last Wednesday’s victory over Osasuna in the Copa del Rey final, Modric told Cadena SER that he intended to continue playing for Real Madrid. “My idea is to continue here at Real Madrid, for sure. Real Madrid and this club make up my entire world.
