Pundits Chelsea will defeat Nottingham Forest on Saturday, predict Paul Merson and Chris Sutton.
In search of this season’s lone away victory, the Reds head to Stamford Bridge. The sole road victory for Steve Cooper’s squad in the league thus far came at Southampton in January by a score of 1-0.
However, the Reds will be encouraged after triumphing over Southampton on Monday in a crucial relegation six-point game. Their current point differential from the bottom three is three.
This coming Saturday, they take on a Chelsea club that is presently 11th in the Premier League standings after a terrible season. Last time out, Frank Lampard’s team did defeat Bournemouth 3-1, earning their first victory in ten games.
Merson and Sutton concur that when the two teams meet in West London, the Blues will triumph against Forest.
“Nottingham Forest performed admirably against Southampton while under duress. Merson predicted a 3-0 victory for Nottingham Forest, saying, “But I think this is a game where Nottingham Forest will struggle to scrape out a winning result.
Despite Chelsea’s lack of performance, I don’t believe Forest will be able to defeat them.
However, despite selecting his bottom three teams to be relegated, the former Arsenal midfielder believes the Reds will remain in the division. With Everton and Forest slightly above the relegation zone, Southampton, Leeds, and Leicester are the current bottom three.
“Forest could already be secure and could have enough points to withstand the fall. In my opinion, relegation is inevitable for Leicester, Leeds United, and Southampton.
Sutton predicted a 2-1 victory and said, “I don’t seem to be able to call Chelsea right no matter what I try. This time, my prediction is based solely on Nottingham Forest’s awful road record. Forest has only picked up one victory and six points from its last 17 away games, where they have allowed 2.4 goals per contest on average.
Even though this is Chelsea, they won’t get anything at Stamford Bridge, I assure you. Frank Lampard, the Blues’ temporary manager, earned his first victory last week, though I’m not sure they deserved to defeat Bournemouth.
Now that Frank needs a victory at home, I am backing them despite my better judgment. Then, prepare for a Forest triumph; nothing would surprise me in this situation.
