After multiple conflicts with Yerry Mina, Erling Haaland has made his combat scars visible.
Haaland, a star for Manchester City, played 78 minutes in a 3-0 victory over Everton on Sunday. He scored the second goal just before halftime.
He had a running battle with the abrasive Toffees defender Mina throughout the game.
Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, criticised the Colombian’s actions as “unnecessary behaviour.”
Haaland then removed his shirt to reveal many scars on his shoulder, stomach, thigh, and calves. He then altered his boots to reflect his new goal-scoring record.
In their Champions League semifinal first-leg match on Tuesday night, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Haaland and Real Madrid centre back Antonio Rudiger engaged in physical contact.
So it’s feasible that any game could account for his scars.
To try to influence Haaland’s performance, however, centre back Mina used his height and power throughout the match. Mina is 6 feet 5 inches tall.
After a heated exchange with the Everton player at fulltime, Guardiola then accused Mina of using deceptive techniques.
Following the final horn, the City manager strode onto the pitch and headed right for the Colombian. Guardiola stooped in front of Mina and shouted while waving his arms vivaciously.
Nearly from the start of the game, Mina had been involved in the rough and tumble.
He engaged in a physical altercation with Haaland, who objected to the roughness, and subsequently got into a fight with Aymeric Laporte when there appeared to be pinching.
Guardiola refused to reveal what Mina had done to anger him so much as he also approached substitute Conor Coady.
Coady is a player from Wolves that Guardiola admires greatly. ‘Mina? What he does is not essential.
It is not required to act in this manner in non-football situations. You are a good enough player, I told him, to stay away from things like this.
He is aware of his actions. He should know. This is not a physical or mental condition. He sometimes performs things that are not essential. This time around with Jack (Grealish), Aymeric, and everyone. Consult him.
Sean Dyche, the manager of Everton, did not argue with Guardiola but had a scathing response when it was indicated that Mina is a repeat offender. He then walked straight down the tunnel after applauding the Everton supporters.
Guardiola must have done well to notice it, given Mina hadn’t played for weeks, according to Dyche, who had only brought the centre back back last week. Every manager has a unique method of operation.
For the match against Everton, Haaland wore boots bearing the number “35” to symbolise the 35 Premier League goals he had scored that year.
However, after scoring a goal against Dyche’s team, he crossed out the five and added a six to reflect his new tally.
As of this writing, approximately 2.9 million people have liked his Instagram post featuring the boots.
