The Chelsea players have been assured that working with Mauricio Pochettino will be a blessing, but have been forewarned that his training sessions are rigorous.
According to talkSPORT, the former Tottenham manager, who has been without a job since quitting his position at Paris Saint-Germain last summer, is poised to sign a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge this week.
The 51-year-old will formally take over the Blues in the summer, and the Argentine will place a new striker and custodian at the top of his priority list.
And he will be playing in the Premier League once more after being fired by Spurs in 2019.
Pochettino will have coached three English teams after joining Southampton in 2013. Chelsea will be his third.
Under Pochettino’s direction, Rickie Lambert led the line for the Saints. Lambert has been quite complimentary of the coach.
The Chelsea team won’t, however, have it easy, according to him, who emphasised that the players have never worked under a manager quite like him.
Lambert said, “Anyone who has asked me, he’s the manager who I think is the best manager I’ve come across, by a fair margin as well,” on The Boot Room on talkSPORT.
“In my opinion, his man-management skills, tactical acumen, and attention to detail are unmatched.
“I think the fans will adore him, and I generally think that they’re really fortunate.
“Given how the club has been performing over the past season or so, I believe he is the ideal choice to take the entire organisation by the horns and steer it in the proper path.
So it’s a great addition for Chelsea, and I believe the players will adore him, but it will be difficult.
They will be pushed harder in practise than in their upcoming games since the players have never seen something like Poch before.
They will have to adjust to it, but given the young, hungry players on Chelsea’s team, they will adore him wholeheartedly.
