According to Italian news reports, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is ready to trade Mateo Kovacic for goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Inter Live claims that the Blues are eager to sign the Cameroonian goalkeeper who just made an impression on his journey to the Champions League final.
After the Serie A team defeated their city rivals to book a spot against Manchester City in the championship game the following month, Onana received a lot of accolades.
After being unimpressed by the seasons of both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy, Chelsea has been heavily linked to the recruitment of a goalkeeper this summer.
To trade Onana for Kovacic, Chelsea might give
Even though it wasn’t yet official that Mauricio Pochettino would take over the club as the next manager, the Inter player was one of the names the club had been connected with signing for about £40 million.
Onana would not have been the Argentine’s top option, according to prior reports, making this the first instance where the manager and the board would have had a conflict of interest.
The Blues’ desire does not appear to be waning, though, as it is now asserted that they are prepared to exchange Kovacic for the goalie.
The Croatian’s contract at Stamford Bridge is slated to expire at the end of the upcoming season, according to reports, and he is not expected to extend it.
The Blues are also interested in adding a midfielder to their team this summer, and have been linked to Premier League players Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo, among others, as prospective partners for Enzo Fernandez.
