Liverpool and Manchester City are rumoured to be interested in signing Alexis Mac Allister away from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer.
Liverpool apparently has Alexis Mac Allister on their radar. The Daily Mirror reports that they will have to contend with Premier League champion Manchester City. To get rid of the World Cup champion, Brighton & Hove Albion will ask for almost £60 million.
If the German midfielder decides to leave the team this summer, Manchester City is looking to replace Ilkay Gundogan. He hasn’t signed a contract extension with Manchester City yet, and his current deal expires in the summer. Barcelona, which wants to sign him as a free agent, has been widely linked to a deal for him.
The seasoned midfielder has won numerous domestic championships with Manchester City and has established himself in the Premier League over a number of seasons. He’ll be vying for the UEFA Champions League championship this year and may seek for a fresh challenge for the following year.
Alexis Mac Allister, meanwhile, has been a standout player for Brighton this year. Additionally, when the World Cup roster was announced earlier in December, he was a crucial player for his nation. The 24-year-old Argentine international could prove to be a worthy Gundogan successor at Manchester City with his 12 goals across all competitions.
He plays similarly to you and can contribute goals as well. The midfielder for Brighton is still relatively young and is probably going to get better with training and experience. He will only become better working for a manager of Pep Guardiola’s calibre.
Manchester City, who can easily meet his £60 million asking price, can compete financially with Liverpool, but Liverpool has the means to do so. So, it’s still uncertain how things will turn out. Losing out on the Brighton star would be a serious setback for Liverpool, who are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements.
They want a player who can manage the game’s speed, offer creativity to the side, and mesh with their pressing style of football. The Reds will be eager to finalise the deal for the Brighton midfield maverick since he seems to be the perfect match for them.
