In preference to clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal, Mason Mount is considering a summer transfer to Manchester United.
As of right now, Mount has not signed or agreed to a new deal with Chelsea and is about to enter the final year of his current one.
David Ornstein of The Athletic has stated that, as of right now, the information he’s getting says Mount is headed to Old Trafford, which is in line with the growing expectation that Mount will depart.
Manchester United will be Mason Mount’s choice.
Premier League interest in Mount is strong. One club that is interested is United. Longtime admirers Liverpool and Arsenal have both expressed an interest in the Englishman.
Ornstein, however, asserted today on Sky Sports that Man United is currently leading the field.
Mason Mount, if Chelsea decides to trade him, is reportedly leaning towards Manchester United, according to Ornstein. Talks are expected to begin soon.
“It appears more likely than not that he will be going. The early favourites were Liverpool, although they will obviously not be participating in the Champions League. Both Manchester United and Arsenal have always wanted to sign him to their team.
“But as far as I’m aware, Manchester United is the one that has gone forward. Although nothing has been done, I believe that is the way things are going. It has been made known to those other teams that Mount prefers United. Only time will tell if they can reach an agreement club to club.
To consider selling Mount, Chelsea is reportedly seeking up to £85 million.
A significant signing
It’s big news that Mason Mount is leaving Chelsea for another significant English team. It would really turn out to be one of the largest moves of the entire summer.
It seems odd that Chelsea is letting Mount slip the net given his clear popularity. There has undoubtedly been a breakdown in communication at some time.
If United wins, it will be a major victory for them.
