Although primarily a Real Madrid newspaper, Marca also has links at Atletico Madrid. There is an update on the Joao Felix case today. The Portuguese forward is now on loan at Chelsea from Los Rojiblancos, and for a while it appeared as though the arrangement may last longer.
He clearly enjoys being here and doesn’t want to return to the ominous training sessions with Diego Simeone.
Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager, “doesn’t want” the attacking midfielder in his lineup, according to a Marca report, therefore he won’t get his wish.
That should signal the conclusion of this tale. Felix probably won’t fit in well with a Pochettino team, which is renowned for its hard work and unwavering dedication to the cause. Felix is a good player, but his defensive performance is more nutmeg than anything else. Felix’s loan should be allowed to expire because the squad is overstuffed and in need of a drastic trim.
However, as we saw with the manager’s wishes last summer and in January, they are not always the sole consideration. If a club is adamant about signing Felix or believes they have a terrific deal on their hands, they are willing to disregard the manager’s demands.
Would it be a good idea to do it before your new man has entered the room? Most likely not.
