The right-back’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2024, and there are currently no plans to extend the defender’s stay in East Manchester. The right-back joined Manchester City from Tottenham in 2017.
Walker joined Manchester City from North London and soon established himself as an essential element of Pep Guardiola’s team. Walker has won 12 awards, including five Premier League titles with Manchester City.
The 33-year-old has appeared in 37 games for the Premier League champions this season and 252 overall for Manchester City.
Walker was a member of Gareth Southgate’s England team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he stood out for his outstanding performance against Kylian Mbappé of France in the quarterfinals.
After an incident involving the defender at a pub in Cheshire, where a video of the 33-year-old is purported to show him exposing himself, potential contract extension discussions with Walker were reportedly put on hold earlier this year.
The Sun reports reports that Walker is reportedly planning to reject interest from AC Milan this summer despite the Italian club’s interest in the England international.
According to the report, Walker prefers a potential return to his childhood team Sheffield United after his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires because a move to Bramall Lane would likely require the 33-year-old to be a free agent.
Last month, Sheffield United earned promotion back to the Premier League, joining Burnley and Luton Town in the top division.
When asked in March if he would mind going back to the Yorkshire club where he first played, Walker responded, “I wouldn’t mind.”
