According to reports, Stefan Ortega Moreno will receive a new contract from Manchester City.
The Etihad number two, who joined the organization on a free transfer in the summer, has just completed his first season.
Ortega was signed by City after his deal with the demoted Arminia Bielefeld terminated.
It was a decision that caused a lot of discussion at the time. The 30-year-old was unknown throughout England.
However, Ortega is now regarded as maybe the greatest back-up custodian in the Premier League after 14 games.
He has a terrific relationship with Ederson, and the star has given him a great push. The star also always appears to be in control when he goes in for the Brazilian.
And now, City wants to reward Ortega with a raise in salary through a new contract.
Man City is prepared to offer Stefan Ortega a new contract for £85,000 per week.
The Sun claims that Ortega is now set to sign a new contract with City worth £85,000 per week.
That represents a reportedly £20,000 weekly increase. Ortega’s present contract has two years left, and City would extend it by another year while increasing his salary.
Since coming, Ortega is said to have highly impressed the Etihad coaches.
He’s also quite happy with Pep Guardiola. After a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea in November, the Spaniard remarked of his backup: “The club made a wonderful signing. He is a superb custodian with the ball and with his foot in every aspect.
The Sun reports that Bayern Munich’remain great admirers’ of Ortega and that there have reportedly been rumblings in Germany that they would make a bid this summer.
However, City does not want to lose him, which is why they are giving him a new contract.
A new contract for Stefan Ortega would be fantastic news for Man City since he is the ideal backup custodian.
So it appears that Ortega will end the season with a new contract and three titles.
He merits a lot of praise for what he has accomplished this term.
Along with Erling Haaland, who undoubtedly received the majority of the attention, and the much-anticipated Julian Alvarez, Ortega arrived at City and was introduced to the crowd.
With Ortega, there wasn’t much hype or expectation.
But when called upon, he excelled in his debut season. And a tonne of credit should go to the recruitment team for locating and bringing in this man.
Every time he plays, he exudes confidence. He might move the ball a little more slowly than Ederson. But he can stop shots just as well, and his own distribution is excellent. That was evident in the FA Cup final matchup with Manchester United.
Additionally, since his arrival, he has given Ederson a great push, which makes him the ideal backup.
Hopefully, the club will soon provide official word on that new contract.
