Manchester United Defender Di’Shon Bernard’s Exit Confirmed, Sends Touching Goodbye Message
Di’Shon Bernard announced on Monday that he was leaving Manchester United by sharing a moving statement on social media.
The 22-year-old was expected to depart United before the summer transfer season, according to a story from The Manchester Evening News published earlier in the day.
The Reds decided not to exercise an option to extend his contract for one additional year, therefore it terminated at the end of the season. He is now free to permanently join with a new club this summer.
A number of teams are interested in signing the defender when the transfer market opens on Wednesday. The defender spent the second half of the previous season on loan at League One team Portsmouth.
With the caption, “Although my time @manchesterunited has come to an end, I am nothing but proud of my journey so far with all the experiences and all the achievements I’ve accomplished along the way,” Bernard posted a photo on Instagram on Monday to confirm his departure.
“I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to every member of the staff who has worked with me over the years, starting when I was a young child and teaching me countless lessons that have helped me become the man I am today.
“To my teammates, you are my brothers for life. I want to express my gratitude for pushing me every day and improving me as a player as a result. I’ll always cherish the encounters and recollections I had with you guys.
Now that this new chapter in my life has begun, I’m eager to see where it leads.
Bernard only played once for the senior team, against Astana in the 2019–2020 Europa League group stage. Bernard is leaving United.
